StudentAbout Teacher
Welcome to the dance space of Sathyavathi Krishnamoorthy! She is a passionate and experienced Bharatanatyam and yoga teacher with 15 years of experience in classical dance and yoga. Trained under the guidance of renowned gurus such as Aacharya Satvika Aravindan, Sathyavathi aims to share the rich tradition and beauty of Bharatanatyam with students of all ages and levels.
She believes in creating an encouraging, inclusive environment that nurtures creativity, discipline, and cultural appreciation. Through her classes, students not only learn dance techniques but also gain a deeper understanding of the history, rhythm, and spirituality behind Bharatanatyam and Yoga.
Training & Experience
Sathyavathi began her journey in Bharatanatyam and Yoga at the age of 8 under the guidance of her school, Suburban Higher Secondary, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Over the years, she has performed at various events, festivals, and theaters, and continues to be involved in the dance community through workshops, performances, and other activities.
In addition to her formal training, she has attended Nattuvangam Training with Ranjani Ghoshal, which deepened her understanding of Bharatanatyam Jathi Composing.
Teaching Philosophy
Sathyavathi’s teaching approach is rooted in patience, dedication, and respect for tradition. She focuses on building a strong foundation in Adavus (basic steps), Abhinaya (expressions), and Nritta (pure dance), while ensuring that each student finds their own artistic voice. She caters to all levels, from beginners to advanced dancers, and incorporates theory into practice, helping students understand the significance of every movement.
Her spiritual and philosophical interest led her to pursue a Rig Vedic Course under Aacharya Baratha Chaitanya, a disciple of Sivananda Ashram Gurukulam.
Sathyavathi is also proficient in spoken Sanskrit and teaches students how to speak Sanskrit in 10 days.
